Find Out If Braces Are Right For You

Almost everyone is born with some type of dental imperfection. This includes common issues like crooked teeth, overbites or tooth gaps. While some of these are easy to ignore, other problems can severely impact our self-esteem and overall health.

People of all ages have all found braces to be incredibly beneficial for a number of reasons. Children needing braces may be suffering from a condition related to their teeth or jaw, such as TMJ. Similarly, teens and adults may be looking to correct a set of teeth causing them pain, discomfort or insecurities about their appearance.

While we know that braces can help people of all ages, it can be a challenge to determine if this is your best option. You may be wondering just ͞how bad͟ your teeth need to be. This is when you know it’s time to make an appointment with an orthodontist.

With so many options  to correct dental imperfections, choosing your next step can be an overwhelming process. A routine examination with an orthodontist will reveal whether you need braces, or if there is a better option available. There are a few things that our orthodontic team will use to determine if braces are your optimal treatment option.

5 Signs You May Need Braces

A routine examination of your mouth, teeth and jaws can determine if you need braces or not. Common oral issues such as a bad bite or misaligned teeth are often treated with braces.

During your exam, Dr. McIntosh will look for the following signs:

  • Underbite, or when the bottom teeth extend beyond the upper teeth
  • Overbite, or when the upper teeth extend beyond the bottom teeth
  • Misaligned or crooked teeth
  • Gaps or spaces between teeth
  • Overlapping or crowding teeth

If it’s determined that braces may be right for you, our team can discuss a treatment plan based on your individualized needs.

How Much Do Braces Cost?

The cost of braces depends on the type, the severity of orthodontic issues and the length of treatment.  In the United States, the average cost of braces can range anywhere from $3,000 to $7,000. For any questions related to payments, please contact one of our offices located in Maitland or Winter Park to schedule a consultation.
